Regular Season Round 9: TuNMKY - HBA-Marsky 81-105

Top ranked TuNMKY (6-3) recorded its third loss in Turun. Hosts were rolled over by fifth ranked HBA-Marsky (5-4) 105-81. It looked good early as TuNMKY took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then HBA-Marsky had a 25-13 second period charge getting the lead and TuNMKY was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-105. HBA-Marsky forced 26 TuNMKY turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. HBA-Marsky brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. TuNMKY was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Joni Herrala (190-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. Oskar Michelsen (203-95) contributed with 32 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Sakari Salminen (200-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and swingman Timka Jaakkola (191-94) added 17 points in the effort for TuNMKY. Five HBA-Marsky and four TuNMKY players scored in double figures. TuNMKY's coach Ray Ailus gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. HBA-Marsky moved-up to fourth place in Division. Newly promoted TuNMKY dropped to the third position with three games lost. HBA-Marsky will play against league's second-placed Kerava Energia Team on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TuNMKY will play against the league's leader KaU Koris in Karkkila and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
