Regular Season Round 18: Mitsubishi K. - Fujitsu RW 65-77

The biggest surprise of round 18 was guest Fujitsu RW's (13-3) road victory over second-best Mitsubishi K. (12-4) 77-65 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mitsubishi K.. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Fujitsu RW made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 37-17 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Fujitsu RW especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. International forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) chipped in 23 points. Fujitsu RW's coach Yabuuchi Natsumi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Chika Sakuragi (179-91) who recorded 17 points and 6 steals and guard Yasuko Hashimoto (163-82) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively. Fujitsu RW moved-up to second place. Mitsubishi K. at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Chanson V-M. Fujitsu RW are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mitsubishi K. will play against the league's leader JX Sunflowers (#1) in Kashiwa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
