Regular Season Round 9: Regina - Manitoba 104-51

Rather predictable result when second ranked Regina (5-1) rolled over at home 5th ranked Manitoba (2-4) 104-51 on Sunday. The game without a history. Regina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Manitoba's 22. They outrebounded Manitoba 45-24 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Regina looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Manitoba's players. It was a good game for American guard Michelle Clarke (170-88, college: Purdue) who led her team to a victory with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Guard Danielle Schmidt (173-89) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Regina players scored in double figures. Regina's coach Dave Taylor felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Robyn Eyer (170) answered with 16 points and guard Stephanie Gill (170) added 11 points in the effort for Manitoba. Regina have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-1 record having just -3 point less than leader UFV. Loser Manitoba keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Regina will face Thompson Rivers (#4) in Kamloops in the next round. Manitoba will play on the road against the league's leader UFV in Abbotsford.
