Regular Season Round 8: Shenyang - Henan 99-75

There was a surprise result in Dandong where tenth ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (4-4) smashed higher ranked Henan Elephants (4-4) 99-75 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Shenyang Golden Lions. Henan Elephants managed to win fourth quarter 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shenyang Golden Lions shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Henan Elephants' players. The best player for the winners was international forward LiJie Miao (178-81) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). International forward Shuang Zhao (188-90) chipped in 28 points and 4 steals (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Shenyang Golden Lions players scored in double figures. Swingman Jie Sun (183-91) produced 25 points and American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Shenyang Golden Lions moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Beijing and Henan. Henan Elephants lost third consecutive game. Shenyang Golden Lions will meet league's second-placed Zhejiang Far East in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Henan Elephants will play against Heilongjiang Chenneng (#12) in Harbin and hope to secure a win.
