The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Matera as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Matera defeated 6th ranked Agrigento at home 57-48. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Agrigento. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-9. But Agrigento won second period 11-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 28 personal fouls committed by Agrigento helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Torino. Newly promoted Agrigento dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Agrigento will play next round against Omegna trying to get back on the winning streak. Matera will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Firenze at home.
