Rather expected game when 9th ranked Amsterdam (1-9) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Leeuwarden (5-6) 91-85. It looked good early as Amsterdam took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Leeuwarden had a 30-18 second period charge getting the lead and Amsterdam was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-91. Leeuwarden dominated on the defensive end, holding Amsterdam to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Amsterdam 38-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Leeuwarden especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Samme Givens (195, college: Drexel) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Robert Holcomb Faye (185-84, college: Radford) contributed with 16 points and 9 assists for the winners. Holcomb Faye is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Leeuwarden players scored in double figures. The former international guard Aaron Roye (185-88) answered with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Maurits Pieper (198-90) added 17 points in the effort for Amsterdam. Leeuwarden have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 5-6 record, which they share with Den Helder K. Amsterdam at the other side keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Rotterdam. Leeuwarden will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Amsterdam will play at home against M.Magixx (#5) in Nijmegen to get more than just one victory in their record.
