No shocking result in a game in Tampico where ninth ranked Huracanes (12-11) outleveled bottom-ranked Gigantes (2-23) 91-47 on Thursday. The game without a history. Huracanes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gigantes to just 5 points in third quarter and to 12 points in second half. Huracanes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 30. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Edward Basden (196-83, college: Charlotte) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 steals for the winners and swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Josh Almanson (205-82, college: Bowling Green) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Antonio Grant (198-76, college: S.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Huracanes maintains ninth place with 12-11 record. Gigantes lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 23 lost games. Huracanes will face Osos (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Gigantes will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria.
