Regular Season Round 25: Halc.Rojos - Fuerza Regia 75-84

There was a small surprise in Veracruz where seventh ranked Fuerza Regia (14-10) defeated 4th placed Halcones Rojos (19-6) 84-75 on Thursday. Halcones Rojos were trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 26-15 charge of Fuerza Regia, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. American forward Mo Charlo (201-83, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Nigerian-Jamaican guard Oritseweyinmi Efejuku (196-86, college: Providence) chipped in 17 points. Five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. At the losing side Puerto Rican point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) responded with 21 points and the former international forward Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Halcones Rojos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fuerza Regia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 14-10 record. Loser Halcones Rojos dropped to the third position with six games lost. Fuerza Regia will face league's leader Halcones UV Xalapa on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones Rojos will play against Toros in Nuevo Laredo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
