Regular Season Round 10: Ottawa - Guelph 90-83

There was a small surprise in Ottawa, ON where fourth ranked Gee-Gees (4-1) defeated much higher ranked Gryphons (1-3) 90-83 on Friday. Gryphons trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 31-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 83-90 at the end of the game. Gee-Gees made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Gryphons turnovers. International guard Warren Ward (196-89) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Gabriel Gonthier-Dubue (198) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Gee-Gees players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Zachary Angus (185) responded with 23 points and guard Charles Amponsah (185) scored 11 points and 4 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gee-Gees have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Gryphons dropped to the third position with three games lost. Gee-Gees will face Thunderwolves (#4) in Thunder Bay, ON in the next round. Gryphons will play on the road against the league's second-placed Ravens in Ottawa, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
