Regular Season Round 6: Rustavi - Sokhumi 87-65
Date: November 23, 2012
Bottom-ranked Sokhumi (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Energy Invest (5-1) 87-65 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Energy Invest led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 38. Energy Invest forced 23 Sokhumi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Nate Bowie (183-86, college: Cent.Arkansas) scored 22 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Kyle Nelson (203-89, college: Augustana, IL, agency: N.E.T.) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and forward Davit Dekanoidze (200-91) scored 20 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Energy Invest moved-up to second place, which they share with Kutaisi. Loser Sokhumi still closes the standings with five games lost. Energy Invest will face league's second-placed Kutaisi on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena STU.
