Rather expected game in Leon where 15th ranked Gansos (4-22) were crushed by thirteenth ranked Lechugueros (7-18) 98-55 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-55. Lechugueros dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gansos' 30. They outrebounded Gansos 50-33 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lechugueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Gansos' players. Gansos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners and Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Lechugueros players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and the other American import swingman Royce Gaye (193-88, college: Tex.A&M-Kingsv.) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lechugueros moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Guerreros. Gansos lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifteenth position with 22 games lost. Lechugueros will face Guerreros (#12) in the next round. Gansos will play against Abejas in Guanajuato.
