Regular Season Round 8: Tochigi Brex - Toyota Alvark 69-100

JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Tochigi Brex (3-13) 100-69. It looked good early as Tochigi Brex took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toyota Alvark had a 31-14 second period charge getting the lead and Tochigi Brex was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-100. Toyota Alvark made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Keijuro Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) contributed with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center Daiji Yamada (200-81) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and guard Shuto Tawatari (185-90) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Five Toyota Alvark and four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-2 record. Tochigi Brex at the other side keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be Mitsubishi Dolphins (#6) in Nagoya where they are favorite. Tochigi Brex will play at home against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
