Regular Season Round 6: Aros Leon - Al-Qazeres 62-79

The most interesting game of round 6 was a home defeat of 7th ranked Aros Leon (2-3) by sixth ranked Al-Qazeres (3-2) who outscored them by 17 points 79-62. The game was mostly controlled by Al-Qazeres. Aros Leon managed to win fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aros Leon to just 7 points in first quarter. Al-Qazeres dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Aros Leon's 32. Forward Veronica Sanchez (179-85) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and American Ndidi Madu (185, college: Florida) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Maria Garcia (185-85) with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Sandra Martinez (188-93) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Al-Qazeres moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Ensino and Valladolid. Aros Leon at the other side keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Al-Qazeres is looking forward to face Universidad de Valladolid (#4) at home in the next round. Aros Leon will play against the league's second-placed Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
