Regular Season Round 9: Angers - Reims 67-58

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Angers as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Nice) loss. Angers defeated 4th placed Reims at home 67-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Reims. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 15-11 Reims' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 67-58 at the end of the game. Angers dominated on the defensive end, holding Reims to just 7 points in second quarter. It was a good game for forward Aurelie Favre (175-91) who led her team to a victory with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Aurelie Besson (173-90) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Angers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. point guard Pauline Lithard (168-94) answered with 14 points and 6 assists and Romanian center Anita Meszaros (190-88) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Reims. Angers have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Nice. Reims at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Pau Orthez and Laveyron. Reims will play next round against CFBB trying to get back on the winning streak. Angers will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked COB Calais on the road.
