LBL round 12 caused change at the leadership position. Third defeat of league's leader Valmiera (6-3) against seventh ranked Barons kvartals (4-5) 75-68 was the most important game of the last round. The hosts trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 31-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Barons kvartals dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Valmiera's 32. It was a good game for swingman Salvis Metra (195-84) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Portuguese forward Maris Gulbis (202-85, agency: Players Group) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Janis Berzins (202-93, agency: Players Group) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Maris Ziedins (203-90) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Valmiera. Barons kvartals moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Jelgava. Valmiera at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by LU. Valmiera will play next round against Jelgava trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Barons kvartals will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Jekabpils on the road.
