Regular Season Round 8: Crocodiles - Wildcats 63-68

Bottom-ranked Townsville Crocodiles is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their tenth consecutive match to fifth ranked Perth Wildcats (5-3) 68-63. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Townsville Crocodiles won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perth Wildcats brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and international forward Jesse Wagstaff (203-86, college: Metro St.) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Jacob Holmes (201-83) scored 6 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Perth Wildcats moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 36ers. Townsville Crocodiles at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Perth Wildcats will play against higher ranked Kings (#3) in Sydney in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Townsville Crocodiles will play at home against Adelaide 36ers (#4) in Findon and hope to get finally their first victory.
