Regular Season Round 6: Gernika - Real Canoe 58-66

LF2 top team - Real Canoe (5-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Gernika (1-5) 66-58. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Gernika won third quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Canoe made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Center Monica Garrido (185-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Daira Varas (193-89) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Izaskun Garcia (168-92) with 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and American power forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Canoe maintains first position in Group B with 5-1 record, which they share with Pais Vasco and Orion-GDKO. Gernika lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. Real Canoe will face Fundal Alcobendas (#4) at home in the next round. Gernika will play against Tenerife (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
