Regular Season Round 19: Yamanashi QB - Fujitsu RW 45-78

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 17th consecutive match to second ranked Fujitsu RW (14-3) 78-45 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Fujitsu RW led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Yamanashi QB to an opponent 20.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Yamanashi QB 56-35 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. International forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Saori Kanehara (164-87) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) and center Misuzu Sato (180-89) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Yamanashi QB in the defeat. Fujitsu RW maintains second place with 14-3 record having five points less than leader JX Sunflowers. Yamanashi QB lost their seventeenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yamanashi QB will play again against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW (#2) in Kawasaki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
