Regular Season Round 8: Notec - GTK Gdynia 82-84

Everything could happen in Inowroclaw at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked GTK Gdynia and 9th ranked Notec had identical 1-4 record. But Notec was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Gdynia 84-82 on Saturday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Notec won fourth quarter 28-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GTK Gdynia shot 24 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Notec only scored six points from the stripe. GTK Gdynia forced 28 Notec turnovers. Notec was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Filip Put (195-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Robert Kolka (184-93) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Forward Mikolaj Grod (194-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and forward Hubert Wierzbicki (196-91, agency: Promotex) added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Notec. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. GTK Gdynia (2-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Notec at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with five games lost. GTK Gdynia will face higher ranked Ksiezak Lowicz (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Notec will play against MKS Skierniew. (#6) in Skierniewice.
