Regular Season Round 11: Memorial - New Brunsw. 69-77

Rather predictable result in St.John's, NL where sixth ranked Varsity Reds (2-3) defeated bottom-ranked Sea Hawks (0-7) 77-69 on Saturday. Sea Hawks were trailing by 16 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Varsity Reds, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Sea Hawks were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Matthew Daley (175) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Forward Ryan Smith (190) helped adding 8 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Ryan Wood (191) responded with 19 points and 6 assists and Caleb Gould produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Sea Hawks players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Varsity Reds moved-up to second place, which they share with Laurier. Loser Sea Hawks still closes the standings with seven games lost. Varsity Reds will have a break next round. Sea Hawks will play again at home against Varsity Reds (#5) in Fredericton, NB and hope to get finally their first victory.
