Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Osaka: Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) and Panasonic Trians (#3). Hitachi Sunrockers (9-7) won against visiting Panasonic Trians (10-6) 83-73. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Panasonic Trians managed to win third quarter 27-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) who scored 22 points and 6 assists. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) chipped in 23 points. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Shuji Ono used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-7 record, which they share with Toshiba BT. Loser Panasonic Trians keep the third place with six games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will meet league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Panasonic Trians will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and hope to secure a win.
