Very expected game in Zacatecas where 10th ranked Barreteros (11-15) were defeated by second ranked Soles (21-5) 105-92 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 51-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington, agency: SportsTalent) who scored 23 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 23 points. American guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 assists and his fellow American import forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) added 23 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the hosts. Five Soles and four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Barreteros' coach Andres Contreras rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Soles maintains second position with 21-5 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Xalapa. Barreteros lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 15 games lost. Soles will face Halcones Rojos (#3) in Veracruz in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Barreteros will play on the road against Toros (#4) in Nuevo Laredo.
