Very predictable result in Zielona Gora where fourth ranked Stelmet ZG (6-3) defeated 9th ranked Polpharma (3-6) 89-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Stelmet ZG. Polpharma was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Polpharma 40-23 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Stelmet ZG looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Georgian swingman Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Marcin Sroka (200-81, agency: Promotex) chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Stelmet ZG players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian power forward Uros Mirkovic (205-82, agency: BeoExcell) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Stelmet ZG moved-up to third place, which they share with AZS Koszalin and Trefl Sopot. Loser Polpharma dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Stelmet ZG will face league's second-placed PGE Turow in Zgorzelec in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Polpharma will play at home against Asseco Prok. (#6) in Gdynia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
