Very expected game when 10th ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (1-12) were defeated on the road by third ranked Oita Heat Devils (9-4) 77-72 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 30-25. But Miyazaki Shining Suns won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 53-30 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) produced 22 points and his fellow American import guard Larriques Cunningham (198-88, college: Lee) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Four Miyazaki Shining Suns players scored in double figures. Miyazaki Shining Suns' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oita Heat Devils moved-up to second place, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Miyazaki Shining Suns lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face again Miyazaki Shining Suns (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
