The game between third ranked Wisla Can-Pak (8-1) and 8th ranked AZS Rzeszow (2-7) in Krakow on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Wisla Can-Pak outscored guests from Rzeszow 72-42. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AZS Rzeszow to just 7 points in second and third quarters. Wisla Can-Pak dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to AZS Rzeszow's 26. Wisla Can-Pak forced 21 AZS Rzeszow turnovers. It was a quality performance for American swingman Alana Beard (180-82, college: Duke) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 5 steals (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Hungarian center Dora Horti (193-87, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) accounted for 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Wisla Can-Pak's coach Jose Ignacio Hernandez felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Joanna Kedzia (193-87) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Leah Metcalf (173-83, college: N.Carolina) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for AZS Rzeszow in the defeat. Defending champion maintains third place with 8-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Artego Bydg. Newly promoted AZS Rzeszow dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Wisla Can-Pak will meet Lider Pruszkow (#5) on the road in the next round. AZS Rzeszow will have a break next round.
