Regular Season Round 9: Pau Orthez - Nice 72-66

Round 9 in LF2 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Pau where host Pau Lacq Orthez (5-3) beat league's leader Nice (7-1) 72-66 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Nice. Nice was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 21-9 charge of Pau Lacq Orthez, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Nice outrebounded Pau Lacq Orthez 43-27 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Ingrid Bunel (174-87) who scored 21 points. Senegalese forward Awa Gueye (182-78) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Fabienne Constant (186-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and Senegalese center Jeanne Senghor (191-82) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Pau Lacq Orthez moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Reims and Laveyron. Nice at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Angers who have the same record. Nice will play next round against strong LTB 29 trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Pau Lacq Orthez will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Laveyron on the road.
