No shocking result in a game when third ranked Chanson V-M (13-4) crushed 10th ranked Hitachi Cougars (4-13) in Shizuoka 92-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. Chanson V-M led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 40. Chanson V-M forced 23 Hitachi Cougars turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Hitachi Cougars' players. It was an exceptional evening for forward Sanae Motokawa (175-92) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Naoko Chikahira (180-93) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. Guard Hiroko Noda (164-83) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Hitachi Cougars in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Chanson V-M. They maintain third place with 13-4 record having six points less than leader JX Sunflowers. Hitachi Cougars lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Chanson V-M will again meet Hitachi Cougars (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
