Regular Season Round 10: Lyon - Perpignan 81-55

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Perpignan (7-3) against seventh ranked Lyon (6-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Perpignan was crushed by Lyon in Lyon 81-55. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Perpignan. The game was mostly controlled by Lyon. Perpignan was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Lyon players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Perpignan's players. American center Mistie Mims (191-83, college: Duke) notched 17 points to lead the effort and Croatian center Emilija Podrug (190-79) supported her with 13 points. Even 16 points by center Helena Ciak (197-89) did not help to save the game for Perpignan. The former international forward Diandra Tchatchouang (186-91, college: Maryland) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Four Perpignan players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lyon moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Perpignan dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Toulouse and Bourges. Lyon will play against bottom-ranked Union Hainaut (#14) in Saint-Amand in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Perpignan will play at home against Basket Landes (#7) in Mont de Marsan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
