Regular Season Round 19: Denso Iris - Aishin AW 62-73

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Denso Iris (6-11) lost to eighth ranked Aishin Wings (6-11) in Kariya 62-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Wings. Denso Iris managed to win fourth quarter 25-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Wings made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) who led the winners and scored 24 points. Forward Yuka Maeda (173-84) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Chisa Yoshida (178-88) came up with 9 points and 5 rebounds and international forward Yuri Ushida (181-89) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Denso Iris in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Wings moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Denso Iris. Denso Iris lost their third game in a row. Aishin Wings will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Denso Iris will play again against Aishin Wings (#7) in Anjo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
