Regular Season Round 11: Alberta - UBC 58-71

Date: November 24, 2012
An interesting game was also home defeat of 3rd ranked Alberta in a game in Edmonton versus UBC (#3) 71-58. The game was mostly controlled by UBC. Alberta managed to win third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Kris Young (178-92) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Leigh Stansfield (190) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Kendra Asleson (183-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Sally Hillier (168) added 12 points respectively for Alberta in the defeat. Alberta's coach Scott Edwards rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. UBC maintains third place with 5-3 record having just -3 point less than leader UFV, which they share with TRU. Loser Alberta keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Lethbridge. UBC will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alberta will play against UNBC in Prince George and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
