Regular Season Round 11: Laurentian - Laurier 55-66

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Laurentian (3-3) against fifth ranked Laurier (3-2) on Saturday night. Host Laurentian was defeated by Laurier in Greater Sudbury 66-55. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Laurentian. The game was mostly controlled by Laurier. Laurentian was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Laurentian to just 6 points in second quarter. Forward Kimberley Yeldon (183) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Doreen Bonsu (168) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Laurier players scored in double figures. Sasha Polishchuk answered with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Emma Decloe (183) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Laurentian. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Laurier moved-up to fourth place. Loser Laurentian keeps the third position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
