Regular Season Round 11: Ottawa - Lakehead 84-72

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Ottawa (3-3) won against at home 6th ranked Thunderwolves (1-4) 84-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ottawa. Thunderwolves was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Thunderwolves 39-25 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Maddie Stephen (186) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Jenna Gilbert (183, college: La Salle) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Carolyn Fragale (168-89) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Ayse Kalkan (173-91) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Thunderwolves. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ottawa moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Thunderwolves lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
