Regular Season Round 15: HoNsU - BC Nokia 70-55

Rather expected game in Jyvaskyla where 10th ranked BC Nokia (2-10) was defeated by seventh ranked HoNsU (5-6) 70-55. It looked good early as BC Nokia took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then HoNsU had a 16-8 second period charge getting the lead and BC Nokia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-70. HoNsU made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 BC Nokia turnovers. It was a good game for international forward Minna Sten (189-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Nia Jackson (170-89, college: Oregon, agency: Gamble Sports Management) contributed with 14 points and 5 steals for the winners. American forward Shakara Jones (187-88, college: Missouri) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Amani Franklin (180-88, college: Kentucky) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BC Nokia. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. HoNsU maintains seventh place with 5-6 record. Newly promoted BC Nokia keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. HoNsU will play against Kerava Energia Team (#8) at home in the next round. BC Nokia will have a break next round.
