Regular Season Round 8: Tigers - Hawks 66-74

Date: November 25, 2012
The game in Melbourne was also quite interesting. Second ranked Wollongong Hawks (7-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Melbourne Tigers (2-6). Wollongong Hawks managed to secure a 8-point victory 74-66 on Sunday. Melbourne Tigers were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-13 charge of Wollongong Hawks, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by Dominican guard Adris Deleon (180-84, college: E.Washington) who scored that evening 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Glen Saville (197-76) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 19 points and 8 assists by American guard Jonny Flynn (183-89, college: Syracuse) did not help to save the game for Melbourne Tigers. Forward Lucas Walker (203-84, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Melbourne Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Wollongong Hawks keep a position of league leader. Loser Melbourne Tigers keep the seventh place with six games lost. Wollongong Hawks will meet Cairns Taipans (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Melbourne Tigers will play against the league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers in Auckland and hope to secure a win.
