There was no surprise in Thessaloniki where 9th ranked Olympiakos (2-6) was crushed by fourth ranked PAOK (6-2) 83-52 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by PAOK. Olympiakos was better in third quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Olympiakos to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Olympiakos 47-24 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. PAOK looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Kayla Dykstra (188-87) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. The former international forward Dimitra Giannopoulou (184-84) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four PAOK players scored in double figures. PAOK's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international forward Niki Zerva (183-79) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and Dimitra Chavale added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. PAOK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 6-2 record. Newly promoted Olympiakos dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. PAOK will face bottom-ranked Panionios (#12) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olympiakos will play at home against GAC Eunikos in Liosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
