Very expected game when 9th ranked Cadi ICG S. (2-4) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Argon Uni Girona (4-2) 81-52 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 29 points. Argon Uni Girona dominated on the defensive end, holding Cadi ICG S. to just 6 points in second quarter. Argon Uni Girona forced 23 Cadi ICG S. turnovers. It was a great evening for American power forward Jacinta Monroe (193-88, college: Florida St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Her fellow American import forward Allison Feaster-Strong (181-76, college: Harvard, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 18 points. Four Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. At the losing side Senegalese power forward Astou Traore (182-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Arhonda Covington (185-85, college: Louisville) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Argon Uni Girona moved-up to second place, which they share with Perfumerias. Cadi ICG S. at the other side keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Argon Uni Girona will face Navarra Pamplona (#6) on the road in the next round.
