Regular Season Round 20: Aishin AW - Denso Iris 55-65

The most shocking disappointment of round 20 was a home defeat of 7th ranked Aishin Wings (6-12) to eighth ranked Denso Iris (7-11) 65-55 in the game for the seventh place. It ended the two-game winning streak of Aishin Wings. The game was mostly controlled by Denso Iris. Aishin Wings managed to win fourth quarter 21-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 7 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Tomomi Tanaka (173-89) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and international guard Kumiko Oba (169-88) who added 12 points and 4 assists during the contest. Forward Yuka Maeda (173-84) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denso Iris moved-up to seventh place. Aishin Wings at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Toyota B SR. Denso Iris are looking forward to face higher ranked Niigata (#6) in Tokyo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aishin Wings will play on the road against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW and will have a slim chance for a victory.
