Regular Season Round 9: T. La Spezia - Siena 85-42

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena (0-9) was outleveled on the road by third ranked T. La Spezia (6-2) 85-42 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by T. La Spezia. Consum.it Siena was better in fourth quarter 11-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. T. La Spezia forced 24 Consum.it Siena turnovers and outrebounded them 39-19 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. T. La Spezia shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. It was a good game for Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Elisa Templari (172-89) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Francesca Fabbri (174-88) answered with 10 points and Laura Fabbri (174-92) added 8 points in the effort for Consum.it Siena. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. T. La Spezia moved-up to second place in South, which they share with 4 other teams. Consum.it Siena lost their ninth game in a row. They still closes the standings with nine games lost. T. La Spezia will face Meccanica NB (#4) in Bologna in the next round.
