Regular Season Round 9: UCAM Murcia - Blancos de R. 87-81

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked UCAM Murcia (4-5) won against at home 11th ranked Blancos de Rueda (5-4) 87-81 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Blancos de Rueda won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American power forward Marcus Lewis (203-86, college: ORU) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Forward Nacho Martin (205-83) answered with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Liberian-American forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Blancos de Rueda. Four Blancos de Rueda players scored in double figures. Blancos de Rueda's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. UCAM Murcia moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with FIATC Joventut. Loser Blancos de Rueda dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. UCAM Murcia will face higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
