Regular Season Round 7: Kavala - Ikaros 82-83

Bottom-ranked Kavala (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-82 loss to eighth ranked Ikaros (4-3) in Kavala. Kavala was ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 27-16 charge of Ikaros, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Kavala 36-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Danny Gibson (180-84, college: S.Indiana) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Ikaros' coach Dimitris Priftis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) answered with 26 points and 5 assists and American forward William Coleman (206-88, college: Memphis) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Kavala. Four Kavala players scored in double figures. Ikaros moved-up to sixth place. Kavala lost their seventh game in a row. They still closes the standings with seven games lost. Ikaros will play against Kolossos (#10) in Rodou in the next round. Kavala will play on the road against KAOD (#9) in Dramas and hopes to get finally their first victory.
