Regular Season Round 20: Fujitsu RW - Yamanashi QB 76-34
Date: November 25, 2012
Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-18) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 18th consecutive match to second ranked Fujitsu RW (15-3) 76-34. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Yamanashi QB was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Yamanashi QB to just 6 points in third quarter and to 12 points in second half. They outrebounded Yamanashi QB 44-26 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fujitsu RW brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The winners were led by international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) supported her with 14 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Fujitsu RW's coach Yabuuchi Natsumi felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 9 points by forward Honoka Osanai (168-90) did not help to save the game for Yamanashi QB. Center Misuzu Sato (180-89) added 8 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Fujitsu RW have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-3 record having just three points less than leader JX Sunflowers. Newly promoted Yamanashi QB still closes the standings. Fujitsu RW will play against Aishin Wings (#8) in Anjo in the next round where they are favorite. Yamanashi QB will play on the road against Toyota A. (#4) in Nagoya and hopes to get finally their first victory.
