Regular Season Round 10: Shanxi - Shanghai 99-85

Leader Shanxi delivered the eighth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Shanghai Octopus (5-5) 99-85 in Taiyuan. The game was mostly controlled by Shanxi. Shanghai Octopus was better in third quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanxi dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Shanghai Octopus' 52 and made 26-of-33 charity shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Shanghai Octopus 52-31 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shanxi players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Shanghai Octopus' players. Spanish Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) notched a double-double by scoring 55 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of her thirteen free throws !!!) to lead the effort and center Xianmin Zheng (184-74) supported her with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds by American swingman Camille Little (188-85, college: N.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Shanghai Octopus. Forward Jing Huang (183-85) added 29 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Four Shanghai Octopus players scored in double figures. Shanxi (8-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Shanxi maintains first position. Shanghai Octopus at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. Shanxi's next round opponent will be Beijing Great Wall (#6) on the road where they are favorite. Shanghai Octopus will play against Henan Elephants in Jiyuan.
