Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Ahli (#8) and Al Shamal (#7). Al Ahli (1-6) won against visiting Al Shamal (1-6) 69-54. Al Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by Guinean Youla Mohammed who scored that evening 24 points and 7 rebounds and Senegalese forward Ibou Gueye Sarr (204-83) supported him with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 7 assists by American point guard Tyvon Williams (182-87, college: S.Carolina St.) did not help to save the game for Al Shamal. Nigerian Daouda Egona added 13 points and 13 rebounds for the guests. Al Ahli left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Al Shamal. It was Al Shamal's fourth loss in a row. Al Ahli will play against bottom-ranked Al Wakrah (#9) on the road in the next round. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
