The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Komarno as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Komarno defeated one of their biggest challengers Levice at home 78-71. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Levice. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Levice won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Levice helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Five Komarno players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard David Kyles (190-89, college: Wichita St.) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) added 8 points and 13 rebounds respectively. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Levice keeps the third place with three games lost. Levice will play next round against strong Nova Ves trying to get back on the winning streak. Komarno will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Nitra in Nitra.
