Regular Season Round 13: Brandon - UFV 61-81

Rather predictable result when third ranked Cascades (6-3) rolled over 7th ranked Bobcats (2-7) in Brandon, MB 81-61 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Cascades. Bobcats was better in fourth quarter 27-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bobcats 53-42 including a 44-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for forward Kyle Grewal (198-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Kevon Parchment contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Cascades players scored in double figures. Forward Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak (201) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Reggie Smith added 17 points in the effort for Bobcats. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cascades. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Saskatchewan and Victoria. Loser Bobcats dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Cascades will face Cougars (#7) in Regina, SK in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bobcats will play at home against Spartans in Langley, BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
