Very important is a home loss of second ranked Golden Hawks (2-4) against fourth ranked Gee-Gees (6-1) on Friday night. Host Golden Hawks unexpectedly were defeated by in Waterloo, ON 83-94. It looked good early as Golden Hawks took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gee-Gees took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 11 points. International guard Warren Ward (196-89) fired 43 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Gabriel Gonthier-Dubue (198) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Maxwell Allin (193) produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard William Coulthard (188) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Golden Hawks players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gee-Gees have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Carleton. Golden Hawks at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Gee-Gees' next round opponent will be Warriors (#8) in Waterloo, ON which should be theoretically an easy game. Golden Hawks will play at home against the league's second-placed Ravens (#2) in Ottawa, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
