Tenth-ranked Caceres Basket (3-6) made lots of trouble for first ranked River Andorra (8-1) on Friday. The visitors from Andorra managed to secure only two-point victory 71-69. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-69. River Andorra forced 21 Caceres Basket turnovers. Strangely Caceres Basket outrebounded River Andorra 42-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Marc Blanch (194-82) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Daniel Perez (188-90) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was Australian-Dutch power forward Josh Duinker (210-89, college: Richmond) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Nigerian-Canadian forward Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. Caceres Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted River Andorra maintains first place with 8-1 record. Loser Caceres Basket dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. River Andorra will meet at home CB Clavijo (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Caceres Basket will play against the league's second-placed Ford Burgos and hope to secure a win.
