Al Wakrah can celebrate finally their first win this season after seven consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Ahli (1-7) 65-61. Al Wakrah forced 20 Al Ahli turnovers. American-Nigerian forward Kayode Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and international center Mame Souleye (206-87) accounted for 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Ayeni is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. Senegalese forward Ibou Gueye Sarr (204-83) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Hashem Zaidan (211-80) added 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Al Ahli in the defeat. Al Wakrah left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Al Ahli and Al Shamal.
