Regular Season Round 13: Laval - Concordia 50-49

Date: November 30, 2012
There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Laval (2-3) edged leader Concordia (4-1) in Quebec City 50-49 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 17-5 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Laval dominated on the defensive end, holding Concordia to just 5 points in third quarter. Laval had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Laval made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for the former international center Marie-Pascale Nadeau (188-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 19 rebounds and 7 blocks. Guard Elyse Jobin (180-90) contributed with 8 points for the winners. Laval's coach Linda Marquis used entire bench in such tough game. Marilyse Roy-Viau answered with 16 points and guard Ashley Clarke (165) added 5 points and 7 assists in the effort for Concordia. Laval maintains fourth place with 2-3 record. Loser Concordia still keeps top position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
