Everything could happen in Regina, SK at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Cougars and 6th ranked Spartans had identical 2-6 record. This time Cougars used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Langley, BC 88-69 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Cougars had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Spartans' players. Spartans were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Frank Brown (188) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Brendan Hebert (180) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Mark Perrin answered with 21 points and 4 steals and forward Eli Mara (196) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Spartans. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cougars (3-6) moved-up to seventh place. Spartans lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Cougars will face higher ranked Cascades (#3) in Abbotsford, BC in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
